Display of a message

Emails can be in two formats: Plain text or HTML. Each format has its pros and cons.

You can define how received HTML messages are displayed via Edit ▸ Preferences ▸ Mail Preferences ▸ HTML Messages. For example, you can display them as plain text or block loading remote content.

Character Encodings — When letters in an email are not shown correctly or missing.
Collapsible Message Headers — Display less email recipients of a specific message.
Handling attachments in received mail — Saving and opening files that are attached to received emails.
Images in HTML messages — On embedded pictures in received HTML messages.

Message Source — Displaying the raw source of a message or all header lines.
Photograph Message Headers — Display a picture of the sender in the message header area.
